Workshops At KAIZEN
Looking for something a bit more than just a regular fitness class? At KAIZEN, we’re hosting workshops where you can learn practical skills with more depth than a regular fitness class. While KAIZEN fitness classes and fitness workshops are designed to promote physical activity and improve fitness levels, our fitness workshops will take you to a higher level.
Here’s what you can expect:
Structure: Our fitness workshops are a longer duration compared to a fitness class allowing for more comprehensive instruction and hands-on learning.
Focus and Content: Our fitness workshops are not only a workout but are also designed to be educational, teaching you specific skills and techniques of a favorite fitness discipline or exposure to a new variation of a favorite fitness discipline. We may cover a range of topics such as proper exercise form, injury prevention, and specialized training methods, take a deep dive into specific techniques or provide an introduction to a fitness discipline variation that may not be regularly available as a class.
Participation: We highly encourage active participation from workshop attendees. As opposed to a standard exercise class where participation primarily involves following the instructor’s lead in a prescribed workout routine, our emphasis is on learning and acquiring new skills and knowledge, so there will be more interaction between participant and instructor.
Intensity and Progression: Our fitness workshops typically focus on specific aspects of the fitness discipline, allowing participants to delve deeper into a particular topic or skill; they may even explore advanced techniques or strategies that go beyond the scope of a regular fitness class. This is a bit different than regular fitness classes, which is typically designed to offer a consistent level of intensity throughout the session, catering to participants of varying fitness levels.
KAIZEN is currently offering fitness workshops for students in the discipline of Yoga. In June, KAIZEN instructor Kerry Donnelly and a team of yoga healers led an Enhanced Slow Flow Yoga workshop which involved Reiki healing, assisted stretching, gentle adjustments, and a healing massage.
Our next Yoga focused workshop is:
When: Saturday, July 8th from 2-4pm.
Yoga type: An introduction to Yin Yoga
Instructor: Elissa O’Neill
Experience Level: No prior yoga experience is required.
Open to Members and Non-members.
This is a fee-based workshop.
Yin Yoga is a meditative style of yoga that focuses on holding poses for several minutes with the support of props and modifications. By releasing tension within the connective tissues, you’ll experience some intense stretches which still stay within your range of motion. Yin Yoga is a perfect way to slow down and nourish your body and mind between high-intensity exercises. This workshop will present a curated series of yin postures and introduce the basic principles of the practice.

Beyond Fitness Workshops
At KAIZEN we are actively working towards bringing you a variety of workshops beyond those that are fitness related and hosted in our The Mat and The Studio spaces. We have been building out The Classroom to bring you a space for special events and workshops developing the mind.
As part of our overall KAIZEN philosophy, we support not only the health and fitness of the body but also the development of minds via The Classroom. This space will provide special training and educational opportunities for members and the local community. Whether it’s a seminar from a nutritionist or sleep expert, or a special class on resume writing or managing a household budget, KAIZEN will be hosting experts on topics in support of living a better and happier life. For our family-oriented community, we will have summer arts and crafts programs for the kids, general enrichment programming, and parental training classes addressing issues such as how to deal with technology and screens and how to utilize KAIZEN’s curriculum as a bridge between home, school, and athletics.
KAIZEN workshops are open to both members and non-members, though registration fees differ based on membership status. Follow KAIZEN on Facebook and Instagram for up-to-date details on our summer workshops for kids! Do you have a suggestion for a workshop we should hold at the KAIZEN Classroom?
